The smashing sound at the end of this track is me smashing a small doumbek with w ten pound sledgehammer. It was cathartic.

The drums during the final fade are from another take of the song. We recorded a couple of basic tracks for this song and I chose the first take to record the other tracks over. This album was recorded on analog tape, two sixteen track recorders synced together. That means the tracks took up actual physical space on the tape. The ending ran long (it takes a while to smash a drum) and so when it came to the end the drums from the next take started up. So I hummed along and a strange fade out was born.
